Groundwork works with schools to deliver innovative environmental education, transform school grounds and re-engage disaffected young people into education.
Children at school now will face the consequences of global warming during their lifetimes. It’s crucial that we educate our children, young people and adults if we are to build a more sustainable society. Groundwork has worked with pupils and teachers to deliver innovative environmental education since the early 1980s.
We also work to transform school grounds into better environments that promote both learning and play, and help to teach children about complex environmental issues through school-business links.
Our Breakthrough alternative educations initiatives work with children at risk of becoming exluded or NEET, delivering a curriculum that re-engages into positive activity.
Outside of schools, we deliver a range of education and training opportunities to young people and adults. Groundwork has developed the NCFE Foundation Certificate in Sustainable Development with NCFE, the Black Environment Network and the Environment Agency.
